Seagull distancing rules to remain in place as lockdown eases

Argyll & Bute Council have recommended that seagulls should continue to remain 2 metres apart despite the phased easing of lockdown elsewhere in Scotland.

In a statement published online, Councillor Ellen Morton confirmed that despite the continuing fine weather it was more important than ever for seagulls to remain disciplined.

“I know it’s been a hard couple of months for the seagull community. Now that the lockdown is easing there is a noticeable increase in chip shop leftovers being discarded by the riverside. So it’s tempting to peck at, say, sausage supper leftovers with your pals when the chance arises. However, at Argyll & Bute Council we continue to recommend keeping a safe distance during this difficult time.” Councillor Morton explained.
